Making stuff is in my DNA.
Since reading the book Refuse to Choose! by Barbara Sher I learned to embrace my Scanner style and find the joy in trying everything that captured my interest. And I let go of feelings of guilt over moving from one thing to another.
My passion for learning is rooted in a desire to understand and improve — I’m always on a journey toward mastery. In episode 20 of Suggested Donation, Juliette Aristides explained how she approaches writing her books, from a non-writer’s perspective (at minute 25):
“The way that I learn, I don’t feel like I ever understand something until I’ve seen through to the absolute bottom of it. Unless I’m seeing the floor, I’m never convinced I really own the material.”
When I heard her say that, it felt like she had perfectly articulated my approach to every new thing I want to learn!
